With rising life expectancy, more people will need long-term care (LTC), yet many cannot access it. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed structural weaknesses in LTC, along with the need for urgent action. This initiative aims to establish a framework for policy reforms in EU countries, in line with the European Pillar of Social Rights promoting the right to affordable, high-quality LTC. It is part of an initiative addressing care in a comprehensive way, from childcare to long-term care in old age.
The results of this call were published at the end of 2022 and the proposal for a COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION on access to affordable high-quality long-term care can be found here: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/13190-Access-to-affordable-and-high-quality-long-term-care_en ”
